Edward Stanley was appointed keeper of Radholme and Leagram parks. The post of park keeper was a high status role, given by the monarch. The keeper would be responsible for maintaining the park boundary, or pale, to keep deer in and any poachers out. The keeper would also organise the hunt and manage any staff who would be expected to check the pale daily and to feed the deer through the winter. The keeper or his deputies may live at the Lodge – often the only building permitted in the park – at Radholme we suspect it was on the site of Radholme Laund farm.
